Scholarly Commentary

Introduction

This drawing is one of three Biblical subjects reproduced in The Rossetti Cabinet . As WMR's note on the verso suggests, these images are likely copies, perhaps after Martin and Westall's Illustrations of the Bible, which was known to be a favorite book of the artist.
