Introduction
According to Surtees, âThe head with beard, drawn twice in profile to left on a sheet of writing paper belonging to Murray Marks, who was present when the drawing was made with the aid of a âcamera lucidaâ. On the reverse, sketch of another head (pen and ink)â (Surtees, A Catalogue Raisonné , vol. 1, 165 (no. 317)).
